ABOUT KENYI PAUL

Kenyi Paul

Software Developer — Backend · Fullstack · Mobile

I'm a software developer working across backend, full-stack, and mobile development. I build APIs, web applications, and mobile experiences that solve practical problems — from a multi-vendor marketplace with mobile money payments to an offline crop-disease detection app.

I'm currently working as a freelance developer and studying Computer Software Engineering at Kigali Independent University (ULK).

SELECTED PROJECTS

Things I've built

A few projects that show how I approach product requirements, architecture, and delivery across web and mobile.

Multi-Vendor Marketplace with Paypack Integration

Enabled multiple vendors to list products, manage orders, and receive automated mobile money disbursements via Paypack.
Implemented commission logic splitting payments between vendors and the platform, with webhook handling for real-time payment status updates.

Crop Disease Detection Mobile App

Built an offline-capable mobile app that lets farmers identify crop diseases in real time by pointing the camera at an affected plant.
Trained a YOLOv8 model and exported it to TFLite for on-device inference, displaying diseases with confidence scores and treatment suggestions.

Production-Grade Rust/Axum Auth Starter Kit

Built an open-source backend starter kit with JWT authentication, refresh token rotation, Argon2id password hashing, RBAC, email verification, and rate limiting.
Containerized it with a multi-stage Dockerfile and docker-compose so developers can run a fully working authenticated API in under five minutes.
