Google Business Profile Setup for Juba Businesses
When someone in Juba searches for a plumber, a clinic, or a restaurant, the first results are a map with three businesses on it. If you are not in that box, most people never scroll far enough to find you.
What a Google Business Profile actually does
A Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in Google Maps and in the map pack at the top of local search results. It shows your name, category, rating, phone number, hours, photos, and directions.
For a Juba business, it does three things a website cannot do alone: it puts you in front of people searching nearby, it shows your reviews, and it gives people a one-tap call or directions button. For a lot of local queries, the map pack sits above every organic result. Ranking on page one is not worth much if the first three results are a map you are not on.
Who is eligible
- You have a physical location customers can visit, such as a shop, office, clinic, school, or restaurant.
- Or you travel to customers and serve a defined area, such as repairs, construction, plumbing, or delivery.
- You can show proof of the business: a licence, a utility bill, a signage photo, or a lease.
A PO box is not an address. A friend's office you do not actually work from is not an address. Google suspends profiles for that, and recovering a suspended profile is much harder than setting up a clean one.
What I set up
- Name and category. The primary category does most of the ranking work, so it needs to match what people actually search for, not what sounds impressive.
- Service areas. The neighbourhoods, payams, or towns you genuinely cover.
- Contact details. A phone number that is answered, a WhatsApp link, and your website.
- Hours and special hours. Including the days around public holidays, when most listings are wrong.
- Description and services. Written in plain language, with the services people search for listed individually.
- Photos. Exterior, interior, team, and work samples, correctly sized and named.
- Verification. Preparing the evidence Google asks for and completing the video verification walkthrough.
- Review flow. A short link and message you can send after each job.
- Connection to your website. Matching business details and LocalBusiness structured data, so the two sources agree.
How the process runs
- Day 1. A short call and a checklist of what I need: business name, address, phone, hours, services, and photos.
- Day 2–3. I build the profile, write the description, and prepare the verification evidence.
- Day 3–7. Verification. If Google asks for video, I give you a shot list so the recording covers what they check.
- Week 1–3. The profile goes live. I check that the map pin and categories are correct and that the website link resolves.
What it costs
Setup is $150 for a single location, including verification support and the review flow. Optional monthly management, covering posts, photo updates, review responses, and category checks, is $60 per month.
If you also need a website for the profile to point to, that is quoted separately. See web development for Juba businesses and what a website costs in South Sudan.
One honest warning
A profile will not fix a business with no reviews, no photos, and a phone nobody answers. Google measures how people interact with the listing. If people call and nobody picks up, the listing sinks. The setup is the easy part; answering the phone is the part that keeps it visible.
QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
- Can you set this up if I am not in Juba?
- The profile has to belong to the business, and the business needs a real location or a defined service area in South Sudan. I can handle the setup and paperwork remotely, but I cannot invent an address, and I will not try.
- How long does verification take?
- It depends on the method Google chooses. Phone or email verification is usually same-day. Video verification takes a few days to review. Postcard verification can take two to three weeks, and post in South Sudan is slow, so video is usually the better path.
- What if my business already has a profile I cannot access?
- That is common when a former employee or an agency created it. I can request ownership, and if that fails, Google has a reinstatement and ownership appeal process. I will tell you upfront whether it is likely to work.
- Do reviews matter more than the profile itself?
- Both matter. A complete profile ranks better locally, but a profile with four reviews loses to one with forty. I set up a simple review request flow you can send after every job.
